A loving, safe and structured environment for your dog. Because we believe your dog deserves the best.

Home from home
Welcome to
Best paw forward

Choosing the right day care service can be an uncertain and stressful time for owners and their doggies. Dogs are part of our family and are incredibly receptive to how we feel. If we don’t feel safe and confident about who we entrust to look after them then they will not feel safe and ultimately, they will not flourish.

It’s never easy to leave your beloved pooch with someone outside your family. It can also be difficult for your dog - spending time away from you, adjusting to a different routine, and being in the company of other dogs.

At Byers Doggy Care we believe in putting the needs of your dog first. PAWS first is our guiding philosophy. It’s a set of principles that guides everything we do to help us create an environment for your dog to thrive.

Our Routine (Food is included)

6:45am to 8:00am- Customers drop their dogs. Breakfast is available and given to those that are not hungry enough to eat earlier at home.

8:15am to 9:00am- Play time, getting ready and travelling for our walk.

9:00am to 10:00am- We enjoy a wonderful morning walk at a beautiful secured woodland. Because the woodland is so big and secured they feel safe and get to run around with no worries anything unfamiliar to be nervous about. Their exercise is at a high level for those that like it and it also offers the safety for older or less able dogs to walk at their own pace.

10:00am to 12:30pm- We travel home and the dogs are washed and brushed. Teeth are brushed, paws are balmed and they are given a health check examination. A more detailed groom is available for £7 or £12 depending on their size and coat. Nail Clipping and/or Filing with a Dremel is also available for £7. They are fed a yummy nutritious lunch one at a time which they love and it really helps them settle for a rest.

12:30pm-12:45pm- The dogs play or rest while I grab some lunch myself.

12:45pm-2:00pm- The dogs have a beautiful hour of rest known as Relaxation Hour. Meditation music is playing to help them sleep and I take the opportunity to write you a lovely detailed report of their well being.

2:00pm-2:30pm- The dogs enjoy a fun session playing after they are nice and refreshed from their sleep.

2:30pm-2:45pm- Customers living out of my catchment area come and collect their dog if they are not needing the Extended Day service.

2:45pm-4:45pm- The Standard Daycare Service ends and the dogs are put in my safe van ready to be dropped home locally.

4:45pm-5:00pm- The dogs have some enrichment time in the garden to toilet and then they enjoy a lovely dinner.

5:00pm-7:00pm- Our late afternoon is a nice time to unwind and rest. Those with higher energy levels really enjoy the dog puzzle games for enrichment and they are so lovely and settled for the evening after having so much fun. Customers having the Extended Day service can collect their dogs at their convenience between 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

7:00pm-8:00pm- My husband and I enjoy our dinner and the dogs boarding have a yummy evening snack. This is a wonderful time where we can enjoy sofa cuddles and relax together watching some TV.

8:00pm-8:30pm- We start preparing the downstairs for sleepy time and they are offered some time in the garden to toilet. A lovely meditation melody plays gently in the background on a white noise machine, a night light is put on and the camera set up. They have a massage, story of how much their hoomans love them and a couple of small bedtime treats with a kiss good night.

8:30pm-4:50am- Sleepy time before we start another beautiful day together.

Considerations to make before applying online

1. Does your dog need more than 1 hour of exercise a day? The dogs have a full 1 hour of exercise in the morning at a beautiful secured field instead of 2 walks in public for 30 minutes. In the afternoons after the Standard Daycare dogs have been dropped home, we do fun enrichment puzzle games at home and in the garden. You may need to consider if a 1 hour morning walk will be enough for the breed of your dog if you are doing Extended Day or Boarding services.

2. Do you live at a distance from the residence? Customers drop their dogs to me between 6:45am to 8:00am. I can drop your dog home if you live close enough that I can drop 7 dogs home between 3pm and be back home by 4:45pm. This ensures the pups are not in transit for too long. If you do not need an Extended Day service you will need to collect your dog between 2:30pm to 2:45pm.

3. Does your work require ad hoc use of the service? Customers needing regular day slots have them protected indefinitely but it is not held if you need long periods of time off like school summer holidays. Regular slots are given to those needing to use them most of the time with occasional time off for holidays. There is 1 slot available for ad hoc and boarding use. Ad hoc daycare can be booked up to 4 weeks ahead based on what is available on a weekly calendar I send out. This allows availability to those that want to book their holidays in advance for Overnight Boarding. The ad hoc service is a nice option for those that want to socialise their dog and can be flexible on the day.

4. Is your dog allowed snacks? We offer delicious food here and put a care plan in place to ensure their food and snack intake is in keeping with what they are having at home so that they do not gain weight. It is a very reward based care setting here with healthy treats and food so it's not suitable for your dog if you prefer them not to have snacks as it won't be fair to them when the others will be.

5. We strictly do not take in tact males due to the previous stress of them marking indoors, mounting of females and disputes between neutered and un neutered males. We only accept males from 18 month of age and at least 2 months after they have been neutered. We can take females from the age of 12 months and they do not need to have been spayed but with the understanding that they will eventually be done in accordance to the vets recommendations.

6. We only accept dogs that are vaccinated as per UK Schedule, registered with a Vet and have Pet Insurance.
